Young people think about unkind language

Young people think about unkind language

Posted: 8th August 2022

Young people stopped to think about whether the language they use could be deemed unkind or inappropriate.

Students in Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 worked with the Hope Not Hate advocacy group.

Workshops focused on language and the impact our words have on other people.

A Vice principal said: “Students were introduced to the idea that ‘banter’ is not an excuse for unkind and inappropriate comments.

“As a school, we are focusing on developing our culture of kindness and respect.

“This was a really thought-provoking day, with students questioning their own use of words and language.”
