These individual achievements are a reflection of the wider commitment demonstrated by the Year 11 cohort, who have supported one another and developed a strong culture of learning throughout their time at the academy.

Laura McGlashan, Headteacher said: “We are incredibly proud of our class of 2026 and the achievements they have made through their hard work, determination and resilience. They have consistently shown a positive work ethic and attitude to learning as well as a supportive culture towards each other, and we know that these qualities will help them to continue to thrive in the future.

“A huge thank you to our families for their support and to our dedicated teachers and staff for all their hard work. We wish all our students the very best for their next steps and look forward to seeing all that they go on to accomplish in the future.”

Emmett Gallagher, Assistant Headteacher added:

“Having worked alongside this incredible group of students for the past four years, I am immensely proud of what they have achieved. Today is a celebration not only of their GCSE results, but of the hard work, resilience and determination they have shown throughout their time at Burnt Mill Academy.

“What makes this year group particularly special is the legacy they leave behind. As the first Year 11 cohort to leave our brand-new school, they have helped establish a genuine culture for learning within it. We have already seen younger students following their example: embracing revision in our new school atrium, attending additional sessions and understanding the importance of working hard for their future.

“They have set the standard for the year groups that will follow them, and that is something they should be incredibly proud of.

“On behalf of everyone at Burnt Mill Academy, I want to congratulate every single one of our Year 11 students. It has been a privilege to work alongside you over the past four years, and I wish you every success and happiness as you take your next steps. Be proud of what you have achieved and be excited about what comes next.”

The academy would like to congratulate all of its Year 11 students on their achievements and recognise the important role played by families, teachers and staff in supporting them throughout their secondary education.

As the first Year 11 cohort to leave Burnt Mill Academy’s new school building, the class of 2026 leaves behind a lasting legacy and a strong example for the younger students who will follow in their footsteps.
