Students and staff were today celebrating at Burnt Mill Academy as the summer’s GCSE results were released.

A total of 71 per cent of students achieved a standard pass in English, while 67 per cent achieved the standard in maths, 68 per cent in science and 81 per cent in modern foreign languages.

The top grades of 9 to 7 were achieved by almost a fifth of students in English language, English literature and maths. For students studying triple science, more than half of students achieved the grades in biology and almost half in chemistry and physics.

Top performing students included –

  • Annabel Rivoire who achieved grade 9s in English, English Literature, maths, biology, chemistry, physics and Spanish and a grade 8 in geography and grade 7s in art and business studies
  • Matilda Prince who achieved 3 grade 9s, 4 grade 8s and 3 grades 7s
  • Chloe Nicholson achieving 2 grade 9s, 5 grade 8s and 2 grade 7s
  • Brandon Hannibal-Grover who achieved 3 grade 9s, 4 grade 8s, 2 grade 7s and a grade 6

Head of school Laura McGlashan said: “I am extremely proud of the students and their results. There are so many fantastic individual achievements which will allow our students to follow their dreams and pursue their chosen paths for further study at sixth-form, college or through apprenticeships.

“I would like to thank all of our students, staff and parents/carers for their hard work and continued support because by working together we have enabled the students to achieve these results.”
