Students Hold Potential New Laws in Their Hands

Posted: 22nd February 2023

Young people held potential new laws in their hands, as students in Year 10 and 11 visited the Houses of Parliament.

The citizenship students visited the Sovereign entrance - not accessible to the general public - before taking a tour of the House of Lords and main hall.

Amy Collins, head of history and citizenship lead, said: "In an act of generosity, students were given both Green and White Papers in the process of Parliamentary review and a bill ping pong (a bill being batted between the two houses) regarding an update to human rights. Students were very humbled when they considered that, much like the Lords themselves, they held potential UK laws in their hands."

After their visit, students visited Parliament Square where they saw protests taking place about Iran.
