AO1 (50%) - Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of religion and belief, including:

  • Beliefs, practices and sources of authority
  • Influence on individuals, com-munities and societies
  • Similarities and differences with- in and/or between religions and Beliefs.

AO2 (50%) - Analyse and evaluate aspects of religion and belief, including their significance and influence.

What will students learn about?

Paper 1: Area of Study 1 - Religion and Ethics (Paper code: 1RB0/1A – 1G)

Students must study all four content sections based upon Christianity.

  • Beliefs
  • Marriage and the Family - of the chosen religion
  • Living the Religious Life
  • Matters of Life and Death


Paper 2: Area of Study 2 - Religion, Peace and Conflict (Paper code: 1RB0/2A – 2G)

Students must study all four content sections based upon their Islam.

  • Beliefs
  • Crime and Punishment
  • Living the Religious Life – of the chosen religion
  • Peace and Conflict

How will students’ learning be assessed?

Paper 1: Area of Study 1 - Religion and Ethics:
Written examination: 1 hour and 45 minutes, 50% of the qualification

Paper 2: Area of Study 2 - Religion, Peace and Conflict
Written examination: 1 hour and 45 minutes, 50% of the qualification

What grades can students access?

Grades 9-1

What can students progress on to after completing this course?

AS and A Levels in Religious Studies and other subjects such as Philosophy, Sociology.

Vocational qualifications, such as BTEC Nationals.
